Compress a PDF to under 2 MB

Government, scholarship and application portals often limit each file to 2 MB (sometimes 1 MB or 5 MB). Type the exact limit and the PDF is compressed on your device until it fits, counting in decimal so the portal accepts it.

    Why do it in your browser

    What if the portal asks for 1 MB?

    Type 1. If the PDF is all scans it may not reach it; the preview tells you before you try.

    Why in your browser?

    Because these are ID documents and receipts. They should not pass through another server before reaching the portal's.
